JOHN MCCAIN'S ADS ARE LIES

WHERE ARE AMERICA'S PRIORITIES?

Can we have a serious talk - please? Well, I will spew and you can respond…..

In a time of:

- The highest energy costs (with temporary relief to appease us during the election)
- The economy in the sewer
- Soaring healthcare costs (the highest in history)
- A Republican lead illegal and unpopular war
- The diversion of our military from catching those behind 9/11
- Thousands of jobs being shipped overseas to fatten the wallets of the corporate bandits
- Eroding civil rights
- Record government deficits
- The warming of the planet
- Underfunded and inefficient school systems
- Republican corruption
- Our seniors choosing between food and medicine
- A decaying infrastructure
- Our veterans being treated with little or no appreciation and inefficient medical care
- Our friends around the world ignoring us – or worse
- A record trade imbalance
- Our family farms dying
- Unemployment on the rise

Why are John McSame and Sarah Pallid the new “IT” couple of the political world?

Are the American people so self-absorbed, and cynical, or too lazy, to understand the consequences of inaction? Do we care so little about our country, planet, children, elderly, and family and friends, that we would elect the old guy and the beauty queen?

See beyond the smoke and the mirrors people.

As the most successful and powerful nation in the world, does it all boil down to:

- Abortion
- Gay Marriage
- Illegal Immigration

Are these the only issues we are supposed to care about?

My Republican-leaning friends, do you not care about the elderly, poor, children and the planet? Is your hatred so deep for the queers, baby killers and fence jumpers that nothing else matters and it outweighs all the other issues?

Churches, and more specifically rabid pastors, ministers, and priests, are doing a huge disservice to their congregations when they spew hate and discrimination from their pulpits instead of preaching love, tolerance, economy of resources, and compassion.

What happened to love thy neighbor, and to use the old, and over-used, expression, “What Would Jesus Do?”

Jesus would not want us ignoring the planet – this glorious Eden made for us. He would not want us squandering all that was given to us so that the rich could enslave the weak and poor, and strip the planet – leaving it parched and barren. He would not appreciate the meek, infirm, youngest and the oldest among us being ignored or mistreated.

Many people, along with the planet, are being either judged, maligned, forgotten or disregarded, in His name.

Have our priorities skewed so far that all that matters is stopping the wet-backs at the border, the faggots from loving one another, and the baby murderers.

Since the corporate owned media is not scrutinizing the stances of our political leaders, or asking the difficult and uneasy question, we as citizen need to take over and do their jobs.

We all need to stand up and say, as I said in the first video I made, “Enough is Enough.”

America was created by dissenters and as citizens we need to question the priorities of our leaders and not just listen to the same “talking points” that are regurgitated over and over until we start to believe their propaganda to be the truth.

Read, listen, Act, and React!

A friend of mine recently told me that there are few differences between the two major parties and I have to publicly say WTF?s There are fewer similarities then there are differences.

At first glance there is a slight resemblance, but when you lightly scratch the surface it isn’t difficult to see the chasms - there are few issues that the two parties really agree upon.

What I find the most hypocritical is that for many years, one tenant of the Republican Party platform has been limited government involvement and intervention, but yet they are the same folks trying to intervene and take control of a woman’s body and also to legislate love and morality which includes writing discrimination into the Constitution of the United States.

These don’t sound like people who value the word of Jesus Christ or those who wish to remove the government from our lives.

This entry is the companion piece to something I wrote nearly a year ago “What Do Americans Value the Most,” which turned out to be the most “Googled” entry of mine, and has been seen by hundreds, or perhaps thousands, of random folks from not only in the United States, but around the world- particularly Canada and Europe.

One year after I wrote it, it is getting more “views” than it did when I first wrote it.

At present this piece is randomly searched for and viewed between 10 and 20 times each day. This piece continues to generate interest and after that one year, not much has changed in the political spheres.

The republicans continue to worship their two almighty’s – the dollar and Jesus – in that order. I know I am over-simplifying, but the two main factions of the party are the truly wealthy and the evangelical Christian.

What surprises me are those that do not fall into either category – the number of deaf, blind, cynical or just plain lazy folks that do not know what is in their best interest – those who continue to support the self-serving platform of hatred, discrimination, and lust for money, control and power.

The Democrats may not be perfect but their warts show, and their truths are evident and far from self-serving.

Weigh, meditate, and pray on the priorities. Not only those that effect you personally but those that effect others - in your neighborhood, the United States, and abroad.

I have to hope that in the end we will come to the realization that voting for a cleaner and safer country and planet, a country that values and protects the rights of all of it’s citizens (whether they be young, old, infirm, able bodied, black, white, gay, straight, female, male, wealthy, middle-class, or poor), a government does not dictate or legislate hatred and discrimination, is far better than the alternative.

If all you covet is money, a hatred for gays, illegal immigrants, and women who find themselves in a no-win situation and choose to have an abortion, then by all means stick with the shallow, dim and disingenuousness of John McSame and his bait-and-switch, stunt-casted VP hopeful Sarah Palin.

Just don’t come crying to me in four years. I will not be voting us into this mess!

From The PTA to the Vice Presidency

I just finished watching Alaska Governess Sarah Palin accept John McCain’s offer to be his running mate and my reaction is, “Are you fucking kidding me?”

If this were April 1st I would get the joke and would be laughing along side both of them, but this isn’t a prank. Although it appears that John McCain’s tongue is pressed firmly against his check, he is serious. He is telling us she is the best, most qualified person he could select as a running mate.

What in the hell happened to Huckabee or Romney?

However, as I watched her speech, and kept my eyes on McCain, it all became clear. He thinks she is a hot piece of ass.

Watch for yourself. He stares at her ass constantly throughout.

As she introduces her “world champion snow machine racing” husband (again… are you fucking kidding me), McCain stands there with a sly grin on his face, unconsciously playing with his wedding band and checking out her ass several more times, and the crowd jumps to their feet.

As Ms Palin refers to herself as an "average hockey mom" John McCain is seeing something completely different. His eyes glaze over and he sees her in her navy blue power suit, arriving home from a long day of governing. She puts down her briefcase in the foyer as she enters and immediately moves to the bedroom where she looks in the mirror at her reflection. She unbuttons her blouse to expose her generous cleavage, takes off her smart-girl glasses and pulls the comb from her hair, shaking her head ever so slightly so that her hair sways in slow motion and falls around her shoulders.

She may look like a corporate tiger but if John McCain’s grin tells us anything, he is clearly not thinking about the economy. His mind in on invading and occupying Sarah “the sex kitten” Palin’s rear flank.

Now of course that is a joke, but everything about this is comical.

John McCain is salivating over her ass and the crowd is wildly applauding her husband’s snow machine racing trophies. What do we get next – an ultimate fighter for Secretary of State? The American people love this shit.

After milking the crowd regarding her oldest son’s military service she introduces the rest of her brood and I am thinking, “she wants us to accept her as the next in line to the most powerful position in the world, and she can’t ever put shoes on her infant son.”

John McCain's stunt casting would be laughable if it weren't so tragic. Trying to woo the female vote, he has offered the vice presidency to a completely inexperienced person simply because she is a woman (and a hot piece of ass).

Does he seriously think that by teaming with her he will gain the votes of the former Hillary supporters?

I wasn't backing Hillary because she was a woman. I supported Hillary because of her accomplishments, intellect, and because she was, in my opinion, the best person for the job.

In her stead John McCain has plucked a "team mom and part-time coach" who has been the governor of Alaska, a state with less people than bears, for two years.

She looks like she should have been announcing the winner of the local spelling bee, or Miss Skagway pageant, not announcing her run for the second highest office in the United States.

This race may now have piqued my interest. When does Saturday Night Live start new shows? Its going to be a fun fall.

CONTRIBUTE TO HILLARY

The ISM emailed me yesterday and told me he made a contribution to Hillary's campaign for President. I did so last year but his email prompted me to give again. This is a very crucial time for her campaign and the future of the United States of America.

Barrack Obama may be a good man but is he qualified to run the most powerful nation on the planet? I haven't made up my mind yet, but I can tell you as time goes by I have less confidence in him.

I have yet to hear substance. I see all the crowds being whipped into a frenzy with talk of change but I haven't heard anything to back it up.

CHANGE FOR CHANGE SAKE IS NOT WISE.

We need a leader in the White House who can work with congress and other world leaders on the tough problems we face at home and abroad. I feel with all my heart Hillary is the answer.

Hillary needs your support now more than ever and that is why I am encouraging everyone to contribute what they can.

WE NEED STRENGTH AND SUBSTANCE NOT SLOGANS.

Below is the email response I received after making my donation. I could not agree more.

I just made a contribution to Hillary Clinton, and I hope you'll join me in supporting her campaign.

America is ready for a president who brings our voice, our values, and our dreams to the White House. After seven years of George W. Bush, Americans want real change and solutions for the problems we face every day. Hillary will be ready to take on America's challenges from day one.

I contributed, and you should too! Visit Hillary's website today to give:

GO BACK TO THE FUTURE - ELECT HILLARY

My friend Scott at www.Scott-o-rama.com asked me to write a guest article for his site explaining why I support Hillary. I thought I would post it here as well even though it will be seen by many more people on his site than mine....

I have been a supporter, vocally and financially, of Hillary Clinton’s since the day I first saw her with her husband, then Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton. Prior to the 1992 election I had never heard of either of then, but once I heard them speak, together and separately, I knew I was listening to a new generation of politicians.

In 1992, after having grown-up in the 1960s and having experienced all that goes with that, both Bill and Hillary brought something new to the political arena. Their passion and belief that government could change, and change for the better, was rooted in the ideals of the 1960s.

When the country elected Bill Clinton President of the United States in 1992, we were unconsciously voting for Hillary as well.

It was instantly acknowledged that Hillary Clinton’s intellect was equal or superior to that of her husband’s. She was already an accomplished lawyer, business woman and community activist. She was smart, strong and had a complete sense of herself – an identity outside that of her husband’s.

She was a new genre of First Lady. She wasn’t a classic beauty with an arm-length long pedigree like Jacqueline Kennedy, nor was she the grandmotherly Bess Truman and she certainly wasn’t matronly Barbara Bush. Accomplished and outspoken, she was a partner in the presidency.

Since that time my support for Hillary has never wavered. For me, she is without peer. It excites me that she is the first serious female candidate (no offense Shirley C) with a shot at winning the presidency, but more importantly that she is one of the smartest, most experienced, and fair-minded candidates ever.

Fashions and seasons may change, but the conscripts who authored our constitution were purposeful in our government’s design. They, unlike our current president, understood that negotiation and concession were essential and key to our form of government and so does Hillary Clinton. She is a practical politician who realizes the need to stand firm for what she believes, but pairs it with the understanding that sometimes there is a need for compromise.

Hillary also understands, unlike the current president, the importance of relationship building, both abroad and at home. She is well respected and admired by the leaders of countries around the globe, and has many admirers among her Republican counterparts.

Today while contemplating writing this I remembered that several Republican senators have given Hillary high praise over the past few years. One such Republican was none other than Arizona’s war-hero Senator John McCain, who very well may be her opposition in the November election.

During an appearance on “Meet the Press” on February 20, 2005, John McCain was asked his thoughts on a Hillary presidency and he said, “I am sure that Senator Clinton would make a good president.” Although he made it clear he would be supporting the Republican candidate, he reiterated, “I have no doubt that Senator Clinton would make a good candidate.”

Additionally, Tom Cole was the (Republican) House Majority Whip in April 2005 when he told the National Journal that “She (Hillary) projects strength and the capacity to run the country, to pick smart people, to know when to compromise. Those are things that the last few years have proven to me she can do. I don’t see any of our guys who could beat her…..”

That gives me hope that other Republicans can see the promise of a Hillary presidency. As a person who rarely votes for my personal interests, I have to hope there are others who vote for what is best for the country.

As trite as it may sound, I vote for people.

I vote for those who don’t understand, or were never shown, their significance in the process. I vote so the uneducated may someday learn their potential. I vote so no child goes to bed hungry. I vote so senior citizens do not have to choose between medical prescriptions and food.

I vote for the factory worker who works for 30 years and then loses his pension as the company relocates overseas. I vote for the veteran whose life was torn apart by the separation from his family as he served his country in an ill-conceived war and then returned home with a mutilated body and splintered soul. I vote so that in 25 years my great-grandchildren will be able to breathe clean air and drink clean water.

During the past eight years we have endured a moral and spiritual depression where opportunity and serenity were overthrown by a furtive, omnipotent, hypocritical, greedy dictatorship and due to that greed we have the largest division of wealth this country has ever experienced. Few people could handle the challenges that face our country but I believe Hillary can, and will, put us back of track economically.

I trust she will restore our place in the world community. She is uniquely qualified as she has known many of the world leaders for upwards of 16 years. She understands the complexity of these relationships and she has the maturity to know we cannot accomplish anything globally without the support of other countries.

Although Hillary stands on her own merits and will be the ultimate decision maker, I believe in the extension of the Clinton legacy, and I look forward to celebrating the repudiation of the mega-wealthy and returning this country to the middle class, and giving every American the opportunity of reaching their full potential.

I genuinely hope people listen to Hillary’s position on the issues, instead of listening to the pundits, and if they do they will discover what I have known all along…Hillary is the smartest and most qualified for the job.

I say we need to GO BACK TO THE FUTURE AND ELECT HILLARY!

Hillary Clinton Introduction by Barbra Streisand

What follows is Barbra Streisand's introduction of Hillary Clinton at Beverly Wilshire Hotel on January 31, 2008. I pinched it from barbrastreisand.com.

Aren’t we fortunate? We have wonderful, accomplished candidates vying for the democratic nomination. But, for the first time in our country’s history, we not only have a woman, but a woman who is the most experienced candidate. Hillary Clinton dares to penetrate the powerful world of men, to challenge their policies and debate their ideas with her keen knowledge and qualifications. Throughout her many years as a public servant, Hillary has utilized every opportunity to make this country strong, safe and just. And, thankfully, we have now entered a time when people discuss the content of her ideas and not just the style of her hair. Today, young women throughout our country look at Hillary Clinton and realize that their potential has no limits. As the first First Lady to become a United States Senator, Hillary has already cracked the glass ceiling, and in November, she will shatter it.

Some people question the idea of a woman president. Perhaps that’s because our country is still young and we haven’t caught up to other places around the world where women are currently serving as Presidents or Prime Ministers…Argentina, Chile, Germany, Finland, India, Ireland, Liberia, The Philippines, New Zealand, Mozambique and the Ukraine.

With our nation in turmoil and so much at stake in this election, we need a leader who has been in the trenches for over 35 years advocating for the young, the old, the poor and the disenfranchised. As a woman and as a lawyer, Hillary played a pioneering role in raising awareness of issues like sexual harassment and equal pay. As the First Lady of Arkansas, she directed a task force to improve education. In the White House, Hillary led the fight to expand quality health care. She advocated globally for women's rights. She fought to increase funding for breast cancer research and to help our veterans suffering from Gulf War syndrome. As a Senator, she authored legislation to make prescription drugs more affordable and to increase America's commitment in fighting the HIV/AIDS crisis.

With grace and dignity, Hillary Clinton has proven she has the inner strength to persevere and withstand the grueling attacks that have been and will be heaped upon her. She will take us into the future with her dynamic leadership. Once again, America will experience a time of economic stability and fiscal responsibility…a time when America will again lead in technology and innovation…a time when Americans will be able to afford to buy a house and pay their mortgage... a time when millions of Americans will have new jobs working in green technology and alternative energy…a time when every man, woman and child in America will have health care coverage…and yes, a time when our country will once again be respected around the world.

When I introduced Hillary at the Aids Project LA Gala back in 1994, she had just finished her first year as First Lady. I had acknowledged during that speech the likelihood that someday Hillary Clinton would be sitting in the oval office. Now almost 15 years later, we no longer need to imagine it…that moment is here.

So it is with great pride that I introduce a friend and the next President of the United States, Hillary Rodham Clinton.

ELECTION EMAIL AND THOUGHTS

I received the following email yesterday from a stranger-friend who reads this blog. She and I correspond as time allows.

What follows is her take on the current state of the election. I hope she doesn't mind me posting it. The email is in it's entirety and I have only edited misspellings and things of that sort, not her content:

...I'm sending the last blurb I had to write in response to more Hilary bashing online:

I have heard speech after speech, and I think Hilary is the real deal. The accusations of lusting for power are ludicrous, and, by the way, never applied to her male counterparts. Anyone aspiring to the thankless position of President of the United States, is driven toward power=influence. What you have to determine is WHY any of them want to influence?

Huckabee wants to create a theocracy; Romney wants to produce the United Corporation of America, Guiliani wants to create a police state, McCain--did you hear his warmongering speech?--is going to WIN at all costs--not on my taxpayer dollars, thank you, while simpering about curbing spending (in between the jokes your weird old uncle tells at Thanksgiving dinner.) Until we are out of Iraq don't talk to me about pork barrel. Thompson is as dumb as a post. And Obama?--I'm sorry but I don't see the wonder of his speech making. He is full of platitudes and empty rhetoric.

Hilary has taken the trouble and the personal risk to talk about the issues in detail. She cares about women and children, and the reputation of our country, and the poor and middle class. She has thought about what it is really going to take to confront the incredible obstacles this country faces. " I'm so for Hillary."

I have liked Richardson's candor, and wish he had not backed Obama. A Hillary/Richardson ticket would be the most experienced for this country. And I am sad Biden and Dodd and Richardson are out and Kucinich is disregarded. Not sure why Edwards can't get traction.

We need all their voices. Seems to me people think getting along is better than fighting. I don't think we can get along with extreme right wingers. I think we need a strong progressive leader with well considered ideas, the background to make it happen, with a truly supportive marriage partner, truly a model marriage for our time, together through it all, I say, Go Hilary.

Chris, I want to let you know that your pro-Hilary bent has really influenced me. Yes, I wish she were even lefter of Kucinich, hell, I think government sponsored housecleaning and massage would greatly benefit humanity. I'd run on that platform alone...

I think Kim is spot-on.

John McCain has become the creepy uncle at Thanksgiving, Fred Thompson is a snoozefest, Mitt Romney is a talking Ken doll, Huckabee scares me, and although Guiliani is for gay marriage and a woman's right to choose, he completely misses the mark on everything else.

Last night I watched to results from yesterday's elections in South Carolina and Nevada and couldn't help but wonder what in the hell happened to Rudy? He rates lower than Thompson - sad given his front-runner status in the beginning.

The Republicans are a mess this year - I just don't see them gaining any traction.

Kim mentioned the Clinton marriage as the "Model Marriage for our times." I couldn't agree more.

I have never doubted the love Bill and Hilary share - although it isn't any of my business. She has loved this man practically from the moment he blew into her life and I think the same is true for him, but like all marriages there have been problems - just like 99% of all marriages.

Only in "The Provincial States of America" do we not forgive a cheating spouse. It is easier to throw away a lifetime, give money to lawyers and hand out scarlet letters. In Europe, and other parts of the world, having a mistress and a wife is commonplace. In America we call a lawyer the second we get a whiff of another woman's perfume.

Infidelity should be viewed as a weakness, not a crime, and standing by your man for the sake of your marriage and family should be seen as commendable.

Hilary Clinton was humiliated by the public airing of her husband's dirty laundry and yet she chose to forgive and recommit herself to the man she married, and in doing so she rediscovered herself and her voice - a voice for women and children and for low and middle income families. She has become the voice of reason in a time where there has been nothing but chaos and confusion.

Isn't it time we had a fresh voice in the White House? Someone who, with the help of a congress controlled by democrats, can finally put an end to the decline of our country and its reputation as a dictatorship. I believe Hilary will restore our place in the world as a country that believes in people and democratic ideals more than it does power, greed and war.

Thanks Kim for your thoughts and provoking me to write!

CORRESPONDENCE FROM JOHN MCCAIN

Today I received an email from John McCain. It was a response to an email I sent him last week regarding the impeachment of President Bush.

The once well respected decorated war hero with the sole conscience of the Republican Party has morphed into a has been republican lap dog and it is nearly pathetic to watch. The John McCain of today is not the same John McCain that ran for president against George Bush in 2000 and I believe it is time he retire from public life.

His letter follows:

Dear Mr. Willi:

Thank you for contacting me to express your view that President Bush should be impeached and removed from office. I'm afraid that we will have to agree to disagree on this issue.

The impeachment and removal of a President are extraordinary actions that should be taken only when the individual holding that office has been found to have committed treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors. President Bush has committed no crime and has dedicated his time in office to protecting the people of this nation to the best of his ability.

At a time when our nation is at war with radical extremists, we should all work together to secure our Nation from the very real threats it faces. Stoking partisan fires by calling for the impeachment and the removal of the President only harms our unity and our security at a time when acting as one nation is crucial.

Please know that I cherish the right of speech and dissent and, while I respect your views on this matter, I simply disagree. I thank you again for contacting me to share your thoughts.

Sincerely,

John McCain

United States Senator

HILLARY INTERVIEW

I like her - don't know what it is, but I like Hillary and I think that if people would just listen to what she has to say and get past their pre-conceived, mistaken impressions of her they will find one very bright woman who will lead this country in a different direction than King George and Dick Cheney.

I still have not figured out why people don't like her:

- Is it because she is a woman in a tankful of male sharks?

- Is it because she is Bill Clinton's wife?

- Is it because she stood by Bill Clinton during his adulterous affairs?

- Is it because she is a democrat?

- Is it because she is smart and some-what tough?

- Is it because she should be home backing cookies?

I've never heard a single, valid reason why they don't like her.

BARBRA STREISAND ENDORSES HILLARY CLINTON

POSTED TODAY AT WWW.BARBRASTREISAND.COM
Today I endorsed Hillary Clinton for President. Below is the announcement the Clinton campaign released to the media with my endorsement statement. Barbra

Streisand Endorses Hillary Clinton

Legendary filmmaker, artist, and Democratic activist, Barbra Streisand, today endorsed Hillary Clinton for President. Streisand cited Clinton's ability to bring about change and the historic nature of her campaign as reasons why she is supporting Hillary's candidacy.

"Madame President of the United States...it's an extraordinary thought. We truly are in a momentous time, where a woman's potential has no limitations," said Streisand. "Hillary Clinton has already proven to a generation of women that there are no limits for success. She is driven by her passion for public service and her belief in the enormous potential of our country. Smart, capable and strong in her convictions, Hillary has transcended the dictates of what is thought to be possible for our time.

"Hillary is a powerful voice for change as we find our country at an important crossroads. Under her leadership, our country will regain its respect within the global community. She will prioritize issues of global climate change, universal healthcare and rebuilding a strong economy. After 8 long years, the public will once again have faith in their government.

"Another former first lady, Eleanor Roosevelt once wrote, 'In government, in business, and in the professions there may be a day when women will be looked upon as persons. We are, however, far from that day as yet.' More than 50 years later 'that day' is now upon us...and Hillary Clinton is ready to shatter through that glass ceiling for all women."

Streisand has been working on behalf of Democratic candidates for over forty years, performing at fundraisers and participating in campaign events. In addition, the Streisand Foundation has raised millions for causes including the environment, women's equality as well as human and civil rights and liberties.

"I'm honored to have Barbra's support," said Clinton. "Barbra has used her immense talent to be an advocate for truth, justice, and fairness and I deeply appreciate her confidence in my candidacy as we work together to change the direction of our nation."

Barbra Streisand is a singer, theatre and film actress, composer, film producer and director. She has won Oscars for Best Actress and Best Original Song as well as multiple Emmy Awards, Grammy Awards, and Golden Globe Awards. She is considered one of the most commercially and critically successful female entertainers in modern history.

ELECTION 2008-THE CASE FOR HILARY

This past week I received an email from someone I have come to know because of this page (and the rest of my website). This stranger-friend is extremely bright and very articulate and she and I were recently conversing via email on the upcoming presidential election.

Her email prompted me to write this in response and she has encouraged me to post it.... so after some edits here it is….

What I was going to write was about Hilary..... Hopefully the next president of the United States......

First, let me say that I believe Hilary is exceptionally intelligent. Although lacking the charisma of her husband, she is smarter that Bill (who I think is brilliant except when it comes to his willy) and I think she allowed Bill’s career to dominate her life all these years because of his ambition and now its her turn.

The reason I support her (and her husband) is because I truly believe they are good people who want to help Average Joe American. I've believed it 16 years ago when he was first running for office and I believe it today.

Is Hilary really moderate? I don't believe so. I think she is a true progressive that is smart enough to know that in order to get elected you have to appease (and appeal) to a broad audience. I also think WHEN she is elected she will surprise everyone, especially if she has a democratic controlled senate and house.

I do not dislike any of the other candidates, of course I am talking Democrats. I like Barrack and John Edwards. Hell, I even like what the weasily little Ross Perot look-a-like Dennis Kucinich has to say. I like what he has to say a lot, and am glad he stood up and called for the impeachment of evil Dick. But I am not convinced that any of them can get elected.

Can Hilary get elected? I've always thought so, however, she is a polarizing figure. BUT... BUT the republicans do not have any candidate that can beat her.... in my estimation.

McCain became a joke after George W got the nomination in 2000 and he fell in line like a foot soldier. After all the unethical games Karl Rove and George Bush played on him during the primary season, he caved and has never had the respect of this country since. He is my senator and I wish he would retire.

Mitt Romney..... he has Ken Doll goodlooks but the majority of people are not going to vote for a Mormon. Americans are thick and they all think the Mormon religion is a cult and their right-wing Christian Churches are Jesus’ real churches. Jesus belongs to them and them alone. The mormons aren’t invited to sit at that table.

I can’t say much about Fred Thompson and I don’t think I need to – except – WAKE UP.

The only hope the Republicans have is Rudi Guiliani - who I genuinely think is a joke. He has been married three times, including once to his cousin. He is running on his 9/11 record (smoke and mirrors at best) and that he turned smut-filled Times Square into Disneyland. He is pro gays and pro abortion and wasn't beating Hilary in their last face off, and wont in this match up.

If the two nominees are Hilary and Rudi - Hilary will win.

One reason is because the big southern “Super” churches for the first time in many years will not be encouraging their voters to vote for either candidate - the (im)moral minority will have to sit this one out. They can’t energize their base with Rudi as the nominee.

I also think you may see a third party "religious" candidate emerge. When the Religious Right sees that they have no true candidate they will find one. I've already heard rumbling about it.

In her initial email to me she was mentioning that she was “looking hard” at Bill Richardson because “of his candor, depth of experience, and practical problem solving approach. He seems like someone who knows how to manage the executive role without being authoritarian, as his method is diplomacy.”

Some of her reply to the above

” actually reassures me that she (Hilary) will stay true to democratic principles, especially restoring our bill of rights, and refusing to allow the executive branch to be almighty. And yes she is--as my teenagers would say--""hella" smart.

You are right in your astute comparison of Kucinich's and Perot's looks/ears, and weasily demeanor. It is too bad that someone with principle has to come in such unfortunate packaging, but beauty is all mathematical really, so I won't refute it.

Mitt Romney, as you say so well, has those Ken Doll looks, also that ken doll blank naive dumb -as- a-post stare. I listened to most of the R. nominees at that family values conference on C-span--missed Guiliani though. I swear if that greasy swindler becomes President, I will have to leave the country.

Now I am annoyed with Bill Richardson for saying we should not waste time with discussing impeachment, that there is business to be done. The dems can conduct business all they like, but it will be futile as long as the President is vetoing, and the republicans are filibustering for a false majority. OUT OUT damn spot, I say!

Kim – I hope you don’t mind me using what you wrote but I enjoyed your words so much…..

WHAT DO AMERICANS VALUE

I recently started listening to Air America, the radio network dedicated to progressive ideas. On one of the shows today there was a story about a hardworking American couple who are about to lose their house because the wife was diagnosed with an advanced form of cancer and they do not have health insurance.

This is just one story in thousands, maybe even tens of thousands.

Your neighbors who worked 60 hours a week to make ends meet, celebrated the birth of your children, kept their lawn manicured, and helped shuttle your children to soccer practice are losing their houses and their lives.

They are no different than you. Their values are your values. They love their children, have helped take care of their parents, and paid their taxes.

America is the riches nation on the earth. Our government spends billions of dollars on nonsensical congressional pet projects. We send billions of aid to other countries, but most importantly we are currently spending one trillion dollars on the liberation and occupation of Iraq – which is now in the middle of a civil war.

We can spend one trillion dollars killing thousands of American soldiers and several hundred thousand innocent Iraqi children, women and men, but we can not offer affordable or free health care to our citizens?

What is wrong with us?

Where are our morals?

As a country what do we value?

The Conservative Christian movement shouts from every television news show that the United States of America was a nation built on Christian principles. Where is the Christian principle in letting the country’s children and poor die or be kicked out onto the streets? How is it that a choice needs to be made between food and medical care, or housing and prescription drugs?

And while I am on the Christians - I am certain that Honoring thy father and mother doesn’t primarily mean not talking back. It also means ensuring they are given proper medical care and are not forced to live in their car.

How did this country get so far from its belief in, and care for, its people? When was it decided that invading countries that could do no harm to us was more important than making certain that every American - our children and elderly included – is receiving proper medical care?

American corporations are making record profits, stocks are at an all-time high, and yet medical benefits are denied to one-fifth of the American population. One in five honest, hardworking Americans are without adequate healthcare.

Corporate America once took care of their employees. That is a thing of the past. While their profits climb to unfathomable levels their employees cannot afford to pay for their doctor visits or prescriptions. There are more working poor now than ever in the history of this country – and yet we remain the world’s wealthiest citizens.

When are we going to elect representatives to Washington who share the belief that our citizens are important? That children matter and we value or senior citizens? When are we going to hold our representatives to the principle that all Americans deserve healthcare – not just the wealthy?

Which congressmen or senator is going to realize that every American deserves the same health benefits they receive and that each CEO in the country takes for granted? More importantly, when are we going to elect a President who works for the best interest of the electorate instead of his wealthy fraternity buddies?

As usual, I am outraged that we have allowed our government to ignore us, take us for granted and spit in our faces as they and their corporate brothers line their pockets and plan more wars to continue the generous of military wealth.

Not a week goes by without me sending an email or letter to one of my representatives – but nothing seems to change – and we need a change.

We all need to talk to anyone who will listen to us. We need to be writing letters and emails, we need to be blogging, and we need to be loud and unified in our belief that people deserve more, and are worth more healthy and alive than sickly, on the streets or dead – and that if our government does wake up and change – we will change our government.

A DIFFERENT OUTCOME

The alarm clock woke me at 6am today and the sun was already shining through my window, warming my room.

Another day, positive and new

After making coffee I go to the front door, unlock and open it gingerly, trying not to wake Fettit. The rush of air from opening the door makes the air vent in his bedroom make a flapping noise and it always sets him straight up in bed.

I reach for the paper, and turn to close the door when two cactus wrens catch my attention with their loud vocals. They too recognize the beauty of this Arizona morning.

Opening the paper I see the headline, “President to receive French Medal.” My interest piqued, I start to read the article, “French President Nicolas Sarkozy is scheduled to present President Albert Gore the “Officier de la Legion d'Honneur,” or “Legion of Honor,” for his dedication to global human rights and environmental consciousness. The article is accompanied by a photograph of the president sitting at his desk In the Oval Office.

Instantly I flash back to nearly seven years before when the presidential election was held and all the chaos that surrounded it. Then Vice President Gore was in a fight to save himself from the unscrupulous tactics of his opponent, Governor George W. Bush, the merit less son of the former president who had little political experience and less than an eighth grade grasp of the English language.

Governor Bush was in the fight of his life and was calling in every favor he could and was bending every possible rule in order to hang on to his slight lead in the state of Florida. He knew that if every vote were to be counted he did not have a chance. His opportunity to be President of the United States would be dashed.

There were vote recounts taking place all over the state and he and his legal team were trying to thwart the efforts of local election officials by stopping them. It worked temporarily when the Bush friendly Florida Secretary of State, Katherine Harris, in an obvious partisan move, ordered the recounts stopped. Soon after the Florida Supreme Court reversed the secretary’s decision, ruling against Mr. Bush. Undaunted, he pushed on to the United States Supreme Court, certain in his conviction that his father’s friends would help him prevail and the court would see things in his favor.

He was wrong. In American politics, every vote counts and therefore, all the votes need to be counted - so said the U.S. Supreme Court.

Soon after, it was announced that Vice President Al Gore had been elected President of the United States. He won with a majority of the American popular vote and the Electoral College. We would have at least four more years of continued peace and prosperity - the nation was optimistic.

I was blasted back to reality by Fettit’s entrance to the living room. He mumbled something as he passed on his way toward the kitchen in search of his first cup of coffee.

“President Gore is receiving France’s highest honor today in Paris,” I call after him. Again, he mumbled something incoherent. “What,” I shouted to him? He returned to the living room, stopped and just looked at me. “I can’t even have my first cup of coffee before you start,” he snarled at me.

He isn’t a morning person.

I decide to leave him alone and eventually he picks up the paper, turns a few pages, and asks, “Did you see on page 5 that George Bush is opening a Popeye’s in Crawford, TX? Junior, that is, not the former president.” There isn’t a picture, thankfully, but it mentions his new wife bought it for him. I still can’t believe he married Katherine Harris. The irony!”

That brings an enormous smile to my face. I’m thinking how much he deserves his fate. First he tries to steal the presidential election and then he was removed as Texas governor through a recall election. Later he was convicted of misappropriation of funds and manipulating (rigging) government contracts and served five years in prison.

His house of cards started crumbling after Hurricane Alberto, a deadly Category 5, devastated the Texas coast and caused $120 billion dollars in damage to the Galveston and Houston area. Nearly 2 million people were left homeless from the hurricane and the subsequent flooding.
Criticized for his lack of response, the people of Texas grew increasingly dissatisfied with his constant inaction and organized to remove him from office and it was only after he left office that his criminal ways were discovered.

“Well, I hope the two of em are very happy together and they’ve saved some of their parents’ money. The Popeye’s will close within a year. He has never been successful in any of his endeavors,” I respond.

“And on page six,” Fettit continues, “is an article on Dick Cheney. Remember him? He was Junior’s running mate in 2000 and Secretary of the Defense under his father?

“Yeah, what’s it say about him,” I somewhat disinterested ask.

Fettit starts laughing. “It says he is dead. He died in a condominium owned by a known male prostitute.”

“No way”, now I start to laugh, “get serious, what does it really say.”

“Seriously!”

“Does it show a picture of the guy? Is he cute, “I ask in the middle of my laughter.

“No, you freak, but it does say they believe he died of a heart attack induced by the use of Viagra and amyl nitrates.”

“He dies sniffing poppers and having sex with some hot male whore, and you are calling me a freak,” I taunt.

We both continue laughing and just then I hear the alarm go off. It wakes me up. The sun is already shining through my window, warming my room.

It’s another day.
