Talk About An Experience!
During my latest visit to New York I went to see Fantasia in The Color Purple. It was the most perfect performance I have ever seen on the Great White Way.
She sang her showstopper at this year’s Tony Awards. The video is good, but seeing her sing the song in context, with her amazing acting skills, is priceless. If you can get to New York before she ends her run in January 2008 do so.
I cannot rave enough about Fantasia’s performance as Miss Celie.

What a powerful song. I live in Toledo, so I wait for the traveling shows from broadway to come here. I will put the "color purple" on my list. Someday I will get to go to NYC and see one in the REAL!!!

You honestly live so close to NYC and you don't even realize it. Its a days drive .... ya get up earliy and you drive to the city and you are there in time for dinner... SERIOUSLY....
You need to find a friend to take the drive with, or else call me and I will meet you...
Unfortunately..... Fantasia will not be in the touring company... and unfortunately.... she is what elevated the show to what it is....
I liked her on AI, but liked Layota London better, but let me tell ya... she is a phenomenal stage actor and singer. and you need to take the drive.... She is there until the first week in January I believe.
